MarchamCentre is the name for the new community facilities which are planned for the Anson Field in Marcham. It will include a village hall, a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), a redesigned football pitch and cricket pitch, and a new junior football pitch.
The facilities have been 4 years in the planning and are jointly funded by the Anson Trust, Marcham Parish Council and generous donations by local landowners. The project received outline planning permission in September 2016, and detailed planning permission in November 2017.
Work started in April 2018 with a substantial archaeological dig which found some interesting iron age remains. The dig has been completed, and we have now started the ground works, with a view to finishing in the spring of 2020.
Once the building is complete, the whole site will be managed by Marcham Community Group which is a charity that is democratically controlled by the local community. MCG has set up three sub-committees to run the facilities - one for the village hall, one for the playing fields and MUGA and a third committee to manage the finances.
